How moderation works

Anyone can report a post. When reports from several members add up (a score of 3), the post is hidden until a moderator reviews it, and its author is told why.
New members' posts pass through a spam check. A post that is held shows to its author as Pending review, never as published while hidden from everyone else.
A person makes every decision to remove a post or restrict an account, and every decision comes with a plain reason and a next step.
You can appeal any decision once. A different moderator reviews it where possible.
If you're unhappy with how a report was handled, you can complain to the eSafety Commissioner.

Everyone starts as New, with a few limits that stop spam. Limits lift automatically as you read and take part:

Basic: read 5 topics and 30 posts over at least 1 day. Adds uploads and normal posting limits.
Member: visit on 15 days, reply in 3 topics, and have a post marked Helpful. Adds messages (when on) and file attachments.
Regular: stay active over 100 days and help others. Regulars can improve titles and tags, link topics to their answers and hide obvious spam for review.
